Andean Postpartum Rituals in NY with Partera di Anaku

What to Expect

Each gathering will offer the same two-day intensive experience, including:

❋ Andean Postpartum Rituals

Rooted in the living traditions of the Andes, these practices honor the sacred window after birth as a time of sealing, warming, nourishment, and spiritual protection. You will learn the cosmology behind the rituals, the practicality of performing them, and how to adapt them to your own community care.

❋ Uterine Realignment

Gentle, hands-on techniques and embodied awareness practices designed to support the womb in returning to balance. This practice is applicable before and after pregnancy. 

❋ Closing of the Bones (encaderado)

A traditional postpartum sealing ceremony known as encaderado, offered to help a mother integrate her birth, feel held and witnessed, and experience a of physical and spiritual closure. You will receive and learn how this practice is learned in the Andean tradition.

❋ Teachings from Kichwa midwife Martha Arotingo

Direct wisdom and instruction from an Andean partera carrying forward ancestral lineage. Martha will share stories, teachings, herbal wisdom, and demonstrations from her community.

Our Locations

Our Brooklyn workshops will be offered in the beautiful loft at Matka NYC in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Our Hudson Valley workshop will be offered close to nature, in a geodesic dome in Kerhonkson, NY.
